Who You Are & What You’ll Do

We are looking for a curious, passionate, and motivated Senior Accountant to join our finance team.  The Senior Accountant will be responsible for running and optimizing the company’s accounting processes and will report directly to the Director of Finance.  We need a sound accountant that sees the full picture and who doesn’t only shine in tracking and reporting, but seeks to constantly add value across the organization.

You understand the value of numbers, and think of the back-office as the engine that informs the company for growth.  You aren’t afraid to ask questions, but you’re the type of person to tackle things head on and go the extra mile. You value relationships and seek them out when support is needed.  You enjoy growth, learning, and taking on new challenges, because anything else just wouldn’t be interesting. You have a general understanding of both US and Puerto Rican tax laws and can successfully manage outside experts to ensure compliance.

 

Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle month-end close responsibilities (journal entries, account reconciliations, reporting and analysis, etc)
  • Complete routine accounting processes such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll
  • Assist in basic HR functions (onboarding documentation, insurance administration, ect)
  • Lead and support company initiatives with financial modeling and ad-hoc reporting
  • Assist in the coordination of annual external audits
  • Manage outside tax CPA relationships to ensure timely filings
  • Drive reporting and close process optimizations
  • Work closely with and support the Director of Finance in business growth initiatives

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Exceptional communication skills, particularly written (having some remote team members, we value clear and concise communication across all departments)
  • Able to communicate and translate complex, technical financial concepts into recommendations
  • 2 - 4 years of experience with a background in public accounting
  • CPA designation
  • Understanding and ability to apply U.S. GAAP, including revenue recognition
  • Able to track and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills
  • Positive attitude and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Tech savvy with experience using cloud accounting tools
